Nominations are now open and will close on April 5.

The tagset is here.

You can nominate four fandoms and five characters or relationships from each. Both characters and relationships are nominated under the "Character" fields.

Please use the following format when nominating relationships: "Relationship: Yoko Tsuno/Khany" for romantic and/or sexual relationships and "Relationship: Hannibal Barca & Scipio Africanus" for platonic relationships. These example relationships are already in the tagset, under Yoko Tsuno (Comics) and Ancient History RPF, for ease of reference.

Characters can be nominated as is, for example "Minn-Erva (Marvel)" under "Captain Marvel (2019)". Disambiguation might be needed to avoid confusion or tag drift, however. This example character is already in the tagset.


What qualifies a fandom?

Small fandoms should have no more than 500 fics on Ao3 that are completed, in English and over one thousand (1k+) words. All characters and relationships in a small fandom are eligible in that fandom for this exchange.

Fandoms can be included in the exchange even if they don't meet the above requirements. Large fandoms for media released between Yuletide sign-ups and Night On Fic Mountain nominations will still be considered (sometimes new fandoms blow up unexpectedly). These fandoms will only be eligible once.

Inactive fandoms can also qualify. Inactive fandoms may not meet the above requirements, but if they have had fewer than 24 new stories on AO3 for at least the past three years posted per year (not counting any stories posted to Yuletide collections), they will be eligible. (Exceptions to this may be made if there is a spike in posting due to someone uploading old fic, or if a fandom-specific archive is being backed up to AO3. This will be determined on a case-by-base basis.)

I would like to participate but I am wondering about nominating American Gods. The show is not caught up to the book canon and character sets are different. Basically sometimes it has been ruled only the show can be nominated. Also I don't think I would want to nom both but would it be possible...

More or less I would like to nominate the book.

I have other small fandoms in mind so I would probably fill other slots with those.

Belated edit: LOL, I just now realized that the whole show gets just under 500 fics anyway if you're only counting AO3! It's got a ton more on ff.n (not enormous, but not Yuletide-sized), but if AO3 is the only place you look, Rookie Blue is totally eligible under the general requirements, without resorting to the inactivity rule… (I'm so used to Yuletide's AO3+ff.n rule that my brain just blipped over checking the numbers on AO3 only - because I "knew" it was too big otherwise, lol.)


I'd like to make a case for Rookie Blue:

2019 so far has only 5 new fics that pass the 1000k/English/complete filters.
2018 has 21 fics.
2017 has 20 fics.
2016 has 111 fics - BUT: of those, 79 are from a single writer (SterekandMcDannoShipr) who states in the a/n to this fic that they're moving their stories to AO3. Although they deleted their ff.n account after doing so, I did find record of them on ff.n in a forum post listing fic awards, and the date that they started moving them to AO3 is a pretty good indicator that those were written and posted to ff.n *before* 2016. Also, since the last stories posted to AO3 were all uploaded on the same day in a clump, chances are good that *those* weren't written in 2016 either.

Removing their stories leaves 32 fics. Of those, eight more were posted on ff.n years before and later cross-posted to AO3:

And this one was mis-tagged as Rookie Blue when it's actually Rookie Blue RPF; they tagged it as Real Person Fiction as well, but that still leaves it counted in the Rookie Blue tag (hopefully they'll fix that, but they may choose not to and there's nothing I can do about people tagging incorrectly, unfortunately).

This brings the numbers for 2016 down to 23 new fics.

Not the mod but both the show and the book are well under the min on AO3, so you can nominate whichever version you want.

In the past, I have been told only the show could be nominated in an exchange. :( It was not good. (It wasn't a TV focused exchange, it was just other people wanted the show nominated and I was overruled.)

There are no limits on what fandoms can be nominated, aside from rarity. "American Gods - Neil Gaiman" qualifies on that count, so you can absolutely nominate it.

Indeed, the exchange only looks at works on ao3, not ff. Rookie Blue qualifies.

:) I feel quite sheepish at *reading* that (I did! I remember doing it!) - and still somehow not having it register that the numbers for it on AO3 were actually under the limit until after I had done all the work to check fic numbers and cross-posting and posted the comment. Silly me.

Nominations close on the 5th, but the Cinemax TV series Warrior also comes out on the 5th, and I anticipate absolutely loving Warrior. Is there any way I can submit Warrior stuff on the 6th? I'll leave one of my nomination slots empty

Can you nominate the fandom early then PM me your noms by 2359UTC on April 6?

You can edit nominations until they've been approved (or rejected, but I only reject noms once the nomination period is over). You can always add characters/relationships to approved fandoms, provided you have empty slots. However, once a character or a fandom is approved, it can't be swapped out for something else.
